HARTLAND SMILEMAKERS 2011 SCHOLARSHIP

The Hartland Smilemakers “Smiles Make a Difference” Scholarship recipients for 2011 are Nick Long and Lauren Sistek. Dr. Chris McDaniel, Dr. Ryan Miller, and Dr. Ken McDaniel presented the scholarships to Nick and Lauren during the Hartland High School awards night.

Nick will be attending Ferris State University pursuing a degree in Pharmacology. He has been a member of the National Honor Society and participated in football, wrestling and baseball throughout high school. He has been active in Boy Scouts as well as numerous community activities - HAYAA football & wrestling, United Way Day of Caring, Sportsguard Day, St. Augustine fish fry and Relay for Life.

Lauren will be attending Central Michigan University pursuing a degree in Hospitality and event planning. She has been active in gymnastics, DECA and National Honor Society. Her community service included United Way Video, March of Dimes, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, MDA Camp and Girls On The Run.

Each year $500 scholarships are awarded by Dr. Chris, Dr. Ryan and Dr. Ken based on grade point average, community service and a written essay entitled “Smiles Make a Difference.” Scholarships are awarded to a Hartland High School graduating senior and to a graduating senior who is a patient in their practice. The scholarship is paid to the recipients’ college or university.
